According to an article on NuZakelijk.nl, the province of South Holland will invest EUR 130 million in its strongest economic sectors: the Rotterdam harbor, agriculture and knowledge-intensive activity.
The province will announce which projects will receive funding in the summer. The central government will contribute EUR 53 million to this initiative, and will develop its own approach in agreement with the province.
Earlier this year, we published an article announcing the central government's intention to subsidize projects in relevant sectors of the economy.
With this local investment, South Holland hopes to stimulate the private sector in the region to become more 'green.'
"The economy of South Holland needs to reduce its dependence on fossil fuels," said Govert Veldhuijzen, representative from the ministry of economische zaken (CDA).
"Therefore we will seriously take into account projects that contribute to sustainability and energy-transition when making our funding decision."
